Friday Meets - 27 May 2016
Yes, yes - I am aware that it is Saturday already (believe me, I am far more horror struck than you regarding the quick passing of time)
Meet me on Friday @ Friday 56 for a bit of Book Blogger Hop to kick-start the weekend with Book Beginnings.
When Audrey Flowers learns that her father has been hit on the head by a Christmas tree and is in a coma, she knows what she must do: leave Winnifred her tortoise behind, fly home, make a moving speech at his bedside and wait for him to wake up. However, things don't quite work out that way. Instead Audrey finds herself embarking on an extraordinary journey.
Come, thou tortoise unfolds in a world that is not quite our own; a place where you might just live forever if you can avoid the dangers, and where the truth can be hidden in the armrest of your airline seat.
Meet me on Friday @ Friday 56 for a bit of Book Blogger Hop to kick-start the weekend with Book Beginnings.
Friday 56 is hosted by Freda's Voice. For this date, you will need the following:
- Grab a book (Yes, any book. But it might get you to your other Friday activities a bit quicker if you just grab the book you are currently reading)
- Turn to page 56 or 56% on your e-reader
- Find a sentence or two (your other Friday activities might determine this)
- Post it!
- Remember to post your link on Freda's Voice and to visit the other guys in the linky.
- And don't forget to list the title of the book and the author as well.
My pick for today is a book that I have been dragging my feet with for the past two months (yes, that is 2 - I know. How dreadful). And it's not that I don't like it, in fact I love it! Maybe it is my subconscious at work here. I mean - this book is about a tortoise, thus:
- It has to be read slowly (to keep in pace with Winnifred)
- There will be more than enough time to run ahead of this book, read a couple of others and still take a nap before I have to get back to this one
- It is advisable to keep it at the bottom of the stack on the bedside table where it will be warm and comfortable (quite similar to a shell)
Page 56:
"I wasn't asleep. I was resting my face. On the table. Like in kindergarten when the teacher said, settle down, enfants maudits. Heads on desk."As soon as I finish this post, I am going to rest my body on the couch and fix my eyes on this novel. Book Blurb:

Before you run of for 'hey hey hey it's Friday'
Remember to join Rose City Reader for Book Beginnings. Share the first sentence or so of the book you are reading (or just take the one you grabbed for Friday 56) and share it. As well as your initial thoughts on the sentence and your first impressions of the book. Remember to also post your link to Rose City Reader and to share the others! If you use another book as the one used for Friday 56, remember to include the title and author.
A couple of weeks ago, I used The unlikely pilgrimage of Harold Fry for the Friday 56 post. I still haven't done the review, but one of my bookish friends said I need to read the companion to this novel too. So I've decided to first read The love song of Miss Queenie Hennessy and then I will review Harrold Fry.
Dear Harold,
This may come to you as some surprise. I know it is a long time since we last met, but recently I have been thinking a lot a about the past. Last year I had an operation on a tumour, but the cancer has spread and there is nothing left to be done. I am at peace and comfortable but I would like to thank you for the friendship you showed me all those years ago. Please send my regards to your wife. I still think of David with fondness.
With my best wishes
For those of you who have read Harold Fry, you will know that this is the pink letter that puts Harold on his journey. Really looking forward to reading this one. (I just need to win a race with a tortoise first)

Today's question: Have you ever started a meme that became popular and is still in existence
My answer: I am not even two months old in the blogging world! In other words, I guess I still suck a bit ....... I love all these lovely meme's and have lots of fun with them, but no - I don't have my own one. Yet. Baby steps. I do follow the following meme's:
