The Sunday Headlines #4

Image
Greetings! It's Easter Sunday and time for another edition of  The Sunday Headlines  where we bring you an update of the past week and give you a forecast of the upcoming week. As always, this post links up with  The Sunday Post  hosted by  Caffeinated Book Reviewer  and  It's Monday! What are you reading?  hosted by  Book Date . Remember to give these lovely ladies a visit and add your linky! It's been dreadfully cold and raining (hallelujah!) over the weekend, so yes - I would much rather spend my afternoon curled up with a book. But I've already skipped Friday Meets and my strict Dutch Reformed background will not permit my conscience to skip another weekly feature. So let's see how short and sweet this can be!

The Sunday Post - Headlines and the Failure of Super Powers

Image
Greetings! Missed me and  The Sunday Headlines   much? Don't worry - so did I. I've been absent from the blogosphere for just over 4 months, but hopefully I'll start floating around again. I did manage to read a couple of blog posts, but didn't write (or read for that matter) anything myself. (Note: Don't you guys miss Gene Wilder? And can somebody please tell me why does that picture of him just fit every possible meme you can ever think of?) To answer: Well, that's a rather long and sad story. It's Sunday and nobody feels like a sad song. So let's rather just give a few headlines.

The Sunday Headlines #2 - Missing Mind reported

This post link up with the  The Sunday Post , a weekly meme hosted by  Caffeinated Book Reviewer   and  It's Monday! What are you reading?  hosted by  The Book Date .  This is a post to recap the past week on your blog, tell  everyone  about books and things you can showcase and share the next week's forecast: What are you reading, what have you just finished and what do you plan to read. And some other news that will make the headlines as well. Remember to link your post and to visit others who have linked up. Greetings from the Headless Headline Woman! I'm not popular enough (yet) to stake the claim that you've noticed I've gone missing this week. Hardly spend any time on the blogosphere. Hardly spend any time anywhere worth mentioning. Least of all my mind. But I do have a whole list of excuses lined up. Actually, there's only one. But everything else spirals down from that one.

And some other news that will make the headlines as well. Remember to link your post and to visit others who have linked up. Have you noticed that my post title has changed? I normally just post under The Sunday Post , but I've noticed something very strange last week. Yes, stranger than fiction. Real events. Like all the likes and hits I had on my Sunday Post last Sunday. Wait, let me start at the beginning - a very good place to start. When you read you begin with ....? YES! - THE HEADLINE . And that was all I did for last week's post. I literally only took the headl...

The Sunday Post - when a headline is all you need

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by  Caffeinated Book Reviewer . This is a post to recap the past week on your blog, tell  everyone  about books and things you can showcase and share news for the upcoming week. Remember to link your post and to visit others who have linked up. They say a picture can say a thousand words. And sometimes a headline is all the story you need. Especially when you are tired and need to go to bed, but really just want to do something for your favorite weekly feature....        No big stories from me this week. Just a few great headlines. The 101th Dalmatian found alive! Another one down the drain - the tragic loss of a cellphone Insider scoop: How they managed the Great Escape Take the Books! Hostage Drama Continues Wishing you all a great week ahead!  Mareli Thalk to me! What was the headline of your week?

The Sunday Post - Double up to 100

Image
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by  Caffeinated Book Reviewer . This is a post to recap the past week on your blog, tell  everyone  about books and things you can showcase and share news for the upcoming week. Remember to link your post and to visit others who have linked up. Today's Sunday Post is the 100th post on my blog. Yea! Of course I had big plans for this post. I mean it is 100  and we all know how very important that number is. (Actually, I have absolutely no idea what the significance of 100 is. Will find out though) When I started planning today's Sunday Post, I realized it had that one magical ingredient that one need to write a classic fairy tale like Sleeping Beauty : The reception will bore you to sleep. Too much thalk thalk thalk, tooo much blah blah blah.

The Sunday Post - You have NO idea

This is a post to recap the past week on your blog, tell  everyone  about books and things you can showcase and share news for the upcoming week. Remember to link your post and to visit others who have linked up. You have NO idea how bad the past 36 hours (yes, I'm counting) have been. I woke up yesterday morning with a spring in my step. That in itself is amazing, as the past week has been just horrible, horrible (try saying that in a french accent. The impact is so much better). While we were having coffee, my husband asked me what my plans for the day were. It was rather simple: Finish some schoolwork  Do the Olymic Book Tag Finish the new Harry Potter Now didn't that sound like a good Saturday? As I was making breakfast, I asked my dear, oh so dear, husband to see if there are any nice templates on blogger that I might look at in a few weeks time, you know When I have time to was...

It is a historic time in South Africa, leaving the ANC bruised and the DA galvanized. ewn.co.za A picture says a thousand words. This photo was taken in Port Elizabeth where a new dawn sure is breaking.  But enough about that. I'm not one to talk politics, lets talk books!

Dumb and Dumber and me never knew that salticrax is proudly South African! I've used this add for my Friday Meets on Friday and was quite surprised that nobody thought my "end of the month toppings" were clever. Gmpfff. Until my husband pointed out that most of my readers do not know the add, or salticrax, and will thus not understand.

Remember to link your post and to visit others who have linked up. I've just finished  The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennesy   and I can hardly see where or what I have to type through my red and swollen eyes. Please don't expect any quirky remarks from me today. But really please do read Miss Queenie. If you can read it alongside her companion The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry  so much the better.     As sad songs and sad books always go, they make you lose track of what you were suppose to do. I actually had this really nice Sunday Post planned, but I have no idea where to find the blueprint under the pile of tissues. The one thing I can remember is that I wanted to change My Sunday Post subheadings to matc...

I have a brand-new look and would love to hear your feedback and comments. Honesty is the best policy - so don't hold back! (You will not know if I stick out my tongue or pull a face or even start crying. You might only notice a couple of silent cyber attacks. (As soon as I figure out how to launch one...) ) I will be an active participant on the blogosphere as from tomorrow again and polish the brand-new look. Still need to update a few pages as well.

Remember to link your post and to visit others who have linked up. A couple of weeks ago I told you (very excitedly)  that holidays are approaching in SA. Winter holidays are the best! We have a stunning arts-festival here in Nelspruit and normally all my friends are around (the Lowveld is the best place to be in winter) . So the flow of red wine and good company is quite similar to the wedding in Cana.

I need the image of Mrs Doubtfire or Maria/Mary (same same)  or I will even settle for Nanny Mcphee. I need to think of puppies and rainbows and nannies who provide sugar in your medicine and not be called Sugar.

The Sunday Post - RIP HP

Sunday 15 May 2016 The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by  Caffeinated Book Reviewer . This is a post to recap the past week on your blog, tell  everyone  about books and things you can showcase and share news for the upcoming week. Remember to link your post and to visit others who have linked up. My good-old trusted friend and companion - HP my laptop, decided to retire early in 2016. My husband and I thought it wise to put him in an "old age home" for computers. The type of home where they minimize your daily schedule to maybe just one or two chores and for very limited time. All HP-my-old-pal had to do, was wake-up every morning, go to just one folder, open it and connect to his HP nephew, the printer. Not too much strain on those old wires. But alas.... It was with the greatest of sadness that I declared HP as dead as a doorstop 6 weeks ago. (My husband suggested that we use HP as a doorstop in future - to honor the memory of our profound loss).

I still need to learn the art of juggling classes, home, husband and blog all at the same time. I've always been in awe of professional jugglers, I could hardly hit one ball with a tennis racket and always closed my eyes when a ball were thrown to me. I honestly don't have any ball sense, books make sense to me and I welcome them with open arms and eyes wide open.
